Re: Part recommendation
Okay so im still a bit confused about how to mount the blade. This is what I have in sketchup.

Re: Part recommendation
Get rid of the point nut that goes on top. Instead you have the thread sit in a bearing supporting the blade at that end. Drill some holes in the blade so the bolts that hold the adapter on go through it, tighten and loctite them.

I knew the nut looked odd on the bot.Shakey wrote:Get rid of the point nut that goes on top. Instead you have the thread sit in a bearing supporting the blade at that end. Drill some holes in the blade so the bolts that hold the adapter on go through it, tighten and loctite them.
I found these bearings; http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/st ... rings.html
If they are correct, you wouldn't happen to have the dimensions of them as the page has nothing.

Re: Part recommendation
Those bearings are for the motor stator (inside shell) to run on the shaft, they will fit on the shaft on the motor, but you would need something that fits around the shaft of the threaded section. Usually 4mm or 5mm.
I would look at something like a MR104 BEARING FOR A 4MM shaft (something like http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p2766/ ... _info.html - also look at ebay for ones 99p) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MR104-zz-4x10 ... xyeZNTWPjW
It depends on the shaft dimension of the threaded section
EDIT:
also a flanged bearing will help hold the bearing in place too, use the flange against the motor section and pressed ionnto your framework. The flange will hold against the frame and stop it from flying out - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/W-FLANGE-MODE ... S32FBAeC0w
Note look for different sellers too.
BTW, just have a search for appropriate inner dimension, there are plenty of external dimensions available, i just took 10mm...

Re: Part recommendation
The DYS motors need a 5mm bearing. I use the 5x8x2.5mm ones from here : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/W-FLANGE-MODE ... hash=item0
The flange makes it easier to ensure it doesn't fall out.

Thanks

Iv ordered a pack of switches and the motor. I most likely order the bearing by the end of the week.
Edit: also ordered the esc.

Re: Part recommendation
First prototype done . It needs more room and the wires all need joining, which I will get to once the switch arrives.

I will have a final question on the wiring, once everything is here.

Re: Part recommendation
Those motor support bars will want to be thicker than that if it's gonna survive any decent hits; they're gonna be handling a lot of force!

Re: Part recommendation
Im aware of this. The first print I did, the bars broke when I put the motors in. This print (third) I made them thicker and the bars only broke a tiny bit, so im gona risk it and leave it at the thickness it is because there isnt much room.Rapidrory wrote:Those motor support bars will want to be thicker than that if it's gonna survive any decent hits; they're gonna be handling a lot of force!

Re: Part recommendation
If you need some extra inspiration, this is a similar design which was very successful at the last AWS.
