Ahh I saw those tracks and thought they looked interesting, but didn't have a chance to get any yet. Will be good to see how they perform.

I'm assuming it'll have some kind of multi-part or "clever" wedge that bolts into the bolts holes to the left of the pods in the picture (I'm just in investigator mode now ).

Yep I was thinking 2 ally meat tenderiser spike cluster jobs on the front!!
The motors I have are Bigger than standard,so I am thinking a tracked battering ram!
The shapeways model is 101 euros!!!!! I am now trying to lighten it a lot!

ongoing update with hellboy,I have been constantly re-doing hellboy's chassis,and this is the most recent...



It uses the same servos as cheese it/the red baron/murray uses,as I am liking them alot!
They are alot smaller than the current one,so the overall chassis is 10mm narrower,and the angle is now steep enough to allow a straight scoop,rather than the current one which has a kink in it.This should mean that I should get a nice overhang on the sides to make more efficient
nt side bends in the ti surface.
Will try and get this done after the AWS.

The old one was cuter! but the new one is definately better.
1) Faster,even on 5v
2) Longer lifter
3) Faster lifter
4)Smaller,about 30% smaller body
5) More powerful Tail,using 100rpm gear motor,instead of servo.
6)Tail now 4mm steel bar,twice as thick
7) Much bigger batteries.Now using 2 x 370mah lipos,instead of old 180mah.
It is a little more difficult to drive with the tail on an extra channel,and I just hope Peter doesnt catch the lifter mechanism,with his horiz spinny things!!!

Aww, you shoved a linkage up his nose!

Was the shortening of the body nessesary because the exposed blue wheels make it look odd.

Thanks Dave,The wheels dont look that obtrusive in person.I just wanted to keep everything as small and light as possible.
It's not as pretty,but it is more functional.
Definately runs alot better,and is more robust.
The new Deltang robot controller is perfect,so far,once setup,(which would be enough to put off mere mortals! ),they are amazing!

The degree of programability is really great it is just the instructions leave a little to be desired.
But once you have worked out how to do it they are really versatile.
I have one in the new Combatant with 10v ADD2 boards and one in Alsoran driving the motors in 5 gm servos directly.

I discovered a failiure in Raouls chassis,a couple of weeks ago...



I am not sure when it happened,it was either at the SAC,or it could have been after,as I tightened up and threadlocked all the screws,once I got back.I think that might have been it!
Anyway,I was debating leaving it till after the AWS,as it ran ok with the fault,but I decided to make a new chassis as I reckon the vibrations made it a bit less stable like that.
So here is the replacement...



I know it doesn't look any different,but it is a bit wider in the weak spots,other than that,it is pretty similar!!
The important thing is... It works,hoorah!

Here is a work in progress too.
I was struggling to find a way to make a lightweight chassis for the tracks I bought,and after making a few ally chassis,and designing one in sketchup,I had a good idea,and just used the box that the tracks came in!!!!!
Painted white,and with some bent pop rivets to make handles.
This is "The Refrigerator"



Waiting on controllers at the mo,so wont be ready for the AWS,but should be a good test bed for the tracks.
