can i just say this first my grandad used to work with pneumatics and he was packing one and and it literally blew his hand off. he only has 1 finger. now he wont go near the damn things

I'm very sorry to hear that!
We're only using low pressure - about 10 bar (145p.s.i), so not too explosive, but still dangerous.

About 1.5mm - 4mm. So quite a range.

im assuming that you wont go into spinner comps with it.
if you do then you will need a bit more thickness.
about six mm for spinner.
but if not a spinner fighter then that would be perfect.
(if its titanium even better)

The best place to ask for feather advice is on the FRA forum, as the people on there are more likely to know what they're talking about, and they are much more experienced.
A great way to get info will be to ask people at the AWS. Unfortunately, the upcoming one in Pontefract is a bit short on people entering, but people like Dave Weston and Will Thomas (if he's coming) will be perfect to ask for first hand experience. Will in particular has built loads of pneumatic feathers in his time.
I know the basic advice for construction of feathers and heavies, but I stay away from pnuematics (most because everyone does them and I find them dull, haha).
Also, try and get down to an event that's running feathers and have a look first hand. There is no better way of learning than having a look inside other machines.

Thanks guys, the metal that I'm using is a steel & aluminium alloy. Titanium is a bit expensive for me, but if I save up, I'm sure I can afford it, but at the moment I'm spending my money on parts, and afterwards, I'm going to save up for a Spectrum DX radio controller (thanks for the suggestion haz), so it could be a while until i can upgrade to titanium, and the steel at 6mm would be a bit too heavy.
