That actually looks rather good Dave :) will you be adding a weapon at all?

No, I don't have the parts or room to weaponise it. It's mainly just an extra robot alongside my other three. Just wanted to build a better walker.

Built a walker for the AWS, made of scrap parts left over from ExV and using a former DBA disc, calling it Welles and its the first tripod that I know of to enter an AWS, as soon as my phone decides to let me take the pics off of it.

no idea on weight but she's very light, probably around the fleaweight walker limit, its just an aluminium plate, brushless motor, 3 servos and receiver and 400mAh LiPo so really isnt much to her

pics will follow

legs have to do 3 things, lift, reach, and pull,
the foot needs to come off the floor which is the lift, go as far forward as you can which is the reach and then the foot need to pull the robot along then lifted again, and so on and so on

2 ways of doing this, firstly you can do this off a motor with an offset arm with a hinged foot (shufflebot), Dave L's new robot video is a great example of that, you can get more feet and bigger steps by experimenting with designs, Again look at Dave's video

the second way is more complicated but is a true walker not a shufflebot, you use a number of servos controlled by a programmable board. you will need double the servos for the number of limbs as a minimal rule. for example a quadrapod (4 legs) will need 8 servos, Welles my Tripod has 3 servo's and some clever programming to keep it stable.

if you want to give it a go I am writing a guide on my site over the next few weeks

Here's a video of an old shufflebot I made. You can't get much simpler than this for a walking mechanism, and its easy to see how it works
