Wiring a ant

Hey im new here (and also to battlebotics

). I wondered how you could wire a ant using this exact package.

(basic starter package and full inertiaa labs chassis) Any good info or a picture would be nice, thanx!

Hi there and welcome.

Not having built these myself (our ants are not as heavy as those in the US), it all looks pretty starightforward to me. with the electronics you get a description of what goes where, and its up to you to find a good spot for it all. Thats what building a robot is all about.

Oh and it definatly is the right forum.

Hi Renalt,

If you look at the manual for the speed controller http://www.barello.net/ANT/ant100.pdfyou will see three screw terminals.

You will need to connect LM + and - to the left hand motor, RM + and - to the right hand motor, BAT + and - to the battery, and the three-coloured leads coming out of the LEFT and RIGHT marked place on the board to channels 1 and 2 of the receiver (http://www.hitecrcd.com/Receivers/supremeSurfRX.htm

And it should all work!

The main problem would be that the basic starter pack uses the double Tamiya motor gear boxes but from the look of the chassis it is designed for the much smaller Sanyo motor gearboxes. Besides being smaller they are inline units and I doubt that the rightangled units can be made to fit.

BTW, I have no experience with the motor in the kit you've mentioned, but they look utter pants (weight in at 70g! with plastic gears!!!) compared to http://www.fastcomponents.co.uk/product ... ucts_id=71 or, in the states (for a bit more money) something like http://www.solarbotics.com/products/ind ... yzq37=true.

Also, you're never going to need an 8 channel receiver in a sozbot. Four channel maximum. the Futaba R114F is a superb receiver. If you want to stick to Hitec then consider the Hitec feather.

Also, although it'll cost you an extra $10, the Sozbots SOZDSCR2.3-X is much better (IMHO) than the Barello, which gave me no end of interference trouble, with no email support from Barello.
