Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
I'm a big fan of bike tyre screwed onto whatever fits on a drill motor for wheels, Works really well with plenty of grip.

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
Great idea Alex. I'll find a cheap bike tyre and do that.
I was thinking of doing an axe bot using a 250 watt scooter motor from ebay but I could never find a suitable ESC to run it.

This is my preferred tyre, the chunky tread lets you put screws inbetween the tread so you don't lose grip from them and it lasts quite a long time, Even used it on my heavyweight. You might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere though.

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
thanks.
My HDPE and wheel hubs are due to arrive tomorrow so I should be able to get to work soon. I'm really looking forward to it.
Building this robot should give me something to do for the 8 weeks I now have before going back to college.

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
If you're looking at doing an axe, have a read through the build diary for Hatchet 2: http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/threads/12553-hatchet-2
(Edit, Hatchet 1's build diary is also worth a read: http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/threads ... ring-brick)
The largest scooter motor you can get that'll fit easily is the 350W ones, so probably go for those rather than the 250Ws, As for ESCs, Electronize 30A, Victor 60A, or TZ85s all would work, but they are getting harder to come by these days...

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
Thanks Rory, i'll have a read but I think i'll revert back to a simple 2WD pusher for the time being. i'll make sure to leave room for adaptation later though.
