RoboShowdown

MKBFC Presents

RoboShowdown 1

10th august 2019
Doors open 9am and we are planning to finish before 7pm.
1st Wolverton Scout Hall, Furze Way, Wolverton, Milton Keynes MK12 5AQ
(Nearest train station is Wolverton which is 1 stop away from Milton Keynes)

This is our first official event.

There will be a standard double elimination 1v1 event.
Spinners are allowed. (providing they pass safety checks for failsafe) You can enter up to 3 bots in this event.

Our 2v2 event is now also double elimination.
This is non destructive.
You can only enter 1 bot into this event so pick wisely.

We have decided to keep our first event simple to make things run as smooth as possible, But future events may have a different format if we feel we can implement it and keep things running smoothly.

3 robots max per team (no cluster/walker rule)

There is no strict limit with size and weight for this event... So as long as it looks and feels to be an antweight your good to go.
We do have set a limit which we are not going to disclose to deter people purposely making something overweight.
Play fair people.

After the 1's and 2's events there will be a rumble, Whiteboards and possibly some side events if there is sufficient time.

This event is totally free to enter. We at MKBFC do this for fun, Although if you wish to donate anything towards the cause then feel free to.

You can register for this event on antlog

http://antlog.garya.org.uk/event/21

There will be trophies and certificates awarded at the end of the day.

We hope to see you there.

I want to sign up to say I'll be bringing 3 bots, but Jiggy and Pushbot need redesigns and my spinner is neither built nor named yet! So I don't have pictures. I'm also not sure which bots to bring as I am planning on building a spinner and don't know who I'd replace with it. Should I sign up 3 bots now anyway using the old photos I have of my team pre - aws? I can't draw for toffee, so if I go with a back of the beer mat sketch as my picture it will NOT be good!
Names for the spinner by the way are currently "He Span It Left Hand" in keeping with my Jiggy Sawdust team idea (as it's the next line from Ziggy Stardust), or a break from the Ziggy thing leaving team Jiggy as a trio and going with something along the lines of "why is the room spinning?"
My brother will be joining me with 2 bots this time (possibly 3?), Fling Mustachio along with either Stubble (Pushbot / Spinner Killer) , Captain Thwackbeard (Thwackbot), or The Sideburns Slasher (Axebot) depending on which ones he actually gets built.
A grabber? I CHALLENGE IT WITH JIGGY!

hallo spinboy
the width of a circle (the man who spun the world)
wild is the spin

also the picture is not really a huge thing, more the type of bot it is and a rough idea of what it will look like...

I've signed up with 2 bots, but one may not be ready depending on if stuff is delivered on time - should I edit my submission with a third bot, and drop one on the day (I only want to bring 2 into the main competition)?

I'm bringing along my brother for the ride (hopefully get him hooked into combat robotics) for the 2v2 - is that just sign up on the day?

hey, yes, the 2v2's will be added on the day as people may not have a 2v2 partner until they find one at the event.

as for sign ups that may or may not be ready in time, its best to sign them up and then we can remove them on the day if needed.

as it stands, due to the intrest we have received so far, we may need to change the format of the 1v1 to allow for more entries.

we are currently looking into other options and will update here accordingly.

My Appologies, But due to the numbers we have so far, We have changed the fight format to allow for no limit (other than antlog's limit)

so if everyone could re register via antlog, that would be great.

Again, Appologies for underestimating the popularity of our event.

We should have forseen this due to the popularity that antweight classes have had over the last few events.

I just hope we caught it early enough to not be a huge inconvenience to those that have entered so far.

please re register via this link http://antlog.garya.org.uk/event/21

Thanks

Luke

I'm registered. Jiggy may drop out to make way for my spinner (depending on how that build goes), but 3 bots are registered and 3 shall attend!
I'll see you all on the 10th!

IF I can make it, I'll bring Betsie and Stacie.

Then we can have that Betsie vs Mantis whiteboard you suggested. I love Mantis, it's brilliant (although it was my poor driving / weird control system which let me down last time)
Robots: Betsie - RaspberryPi controlled flipper bot with gyro stablisation - too clever for her own good?
Stacie - tidy flipper; 4wd driven by hair bands
