welcome to the forum oxey.
i don't think HDPE has been given a mention yet and it probably deserves one. 1mm and sometimes even 2mm can be cut up with scissors, it's also possible to join it by welding it together with a soldering iron (although that is probably not the best way of doing it and should always be done in a well ventilated area) good luck building your robot.

Re: My First Antweight Parts List
Hi all ,
So iv changed my design / mind about this first bot. I want a conventional flipper . Iv scoured the net looking for designs , picking them apart , merging , rebuilding .. stronger .. better !
I give you the Mark I :
So whats different . Well , mainly the chassis . All other parts are identical to the first design.
The chassis is currently being 3d printed (MakeXYZ) and I should receive it in the next week. Amusing it turns out OK (and the flipper part is actually able to move) , I plan to attach some 1.2mm sheet metal to the front section (with the hexagon cutout) to form the main flipper bit (that the technical term).
One thing I would like is a link to a cheap remote . The one listed in the Nano Two's documentation on eBay is sold out. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blade-Heli-Co ... xyRhBSwIzG

I may give this another go at some point, but for now its over.

It used to be £20 but they seemed to have raised it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blade-Heli-Co ... xyRhBSwIzG
however search for blade mlp4dsm and you'll be able to find cheaper second hand ones and similar reincarnations, for example I picked up a hp6dsm for about a tenner

Re: My First Antweight
That one is mode 1 if you want to drive single stick on the right you need a mode 2 transmitter.
Re: My First Antweight
Thanks , ill look into that .
Whats best mode 1 or 2?

Re: My First Antweight
It depends entirely on your driving and control style; obviously you can set up any combination of channels to drive motors, but on some of the speed controller/reciever combo kits that are available it's not a small job to swap the signal wires around to any channel other than aileron/elevator, which is the right stick on mode 2 and the left on mode 1.
It is worth bearing in mind though that mode 2 is more common in the UK, so should you wish to upgrade to a transmitter with more features that will be easier to find.

Re: My First Antweight
On some transmitters swapping between mode 1 & 2 is far from simple.
The throttle/rudder stick (left for mode 2) usually has no spring return on the throttle (up/down) movement and sometimes has a ratchet too.
It's not always easy/possible to swap the springs and ratchet between the left & right controls.
There are some (usually not the cheapest!) transmitters that are designed for the user to swap them between mode 1 & 2 but it's a whole lot easier to get the right mode in the first place!

Re: My First Antweight
Just got the chassis 3D print back from shapeways.
I used the strong and flexible plastic . It seems solid and is really light.
Just need to get the rest of the parts and some sheet metal for the actual flipper front.
