Re: Jon's Cheerful Robots
Why not use hot melt glue for the tyres? It's not quite as soft as the silicones Peter et al are using, but I reckon it would be OK. Can't think of a way of making the electronics out of glue though...

Proof that anything can be done with a hot glue gun:BeligerAnt wrote: Can't think of a way of making the electronics out of glue though...

Re: Jon's Cheerful Robots
Hey all,
Just wanted to put a label on my slight disappearance from robots of late. I see Scott is taking a break and I may have to mirror him for the moment. This is not due to to any lack of enthusiasm for the sport on my part but I haven't been able to balance my degree and my hobbies as well as some have . The fact that I probably wouldn't have chosen this degree if it weren't for antweights hasn't escaped me but next summer after Formula Student UK is realistically the next time I can put aside enough time.
Hope to see everyone again around then but chow for now

How come your uni gets to do Formula Student? I was gutted when I found Reading doesn't compete

Re: Jon's Cheerful Robots
If you get a bunch of enthusiastic people together they might give you a budget to start a team Formula Student at Sheffield goes back quite a few years before I joined so I'm not sure how it all started. The whole endeavor is IMechE run though and Reading is more famous for it's electronic engineering which might be why it hasn't entered in the past. I might be wrong though

Seeing as Reading is closing it's engineering department the year after I leave, I feel money for such endeavours is scarce... Should have gone to Bristol

What, all of engineering?! That's a bit extreme
