Right time to start thinking about the AWS.

Got to reprint Stanleys chassis before it actually crumbles (Only verging on 3 years old now).
Accelerant needs to be put back to the old designs with the big wheels and good flipper :D

And I'm going to be attempting a 6WD 4 bar flipper.... Yeah... This may be tricky.

However on the featherweight front my axe wielding feather Gimli is doing rather nicely! So well I decided to spruce up its paintjob and give it some lights on the front to see what it is hitting! I only need to remount the power LED next to the link, mount the link properly and add in limit switches and Gimli won't need any work other than maintenance for fighting :D Kinda on the very edge of the weight limit though (Just under right now).

And I should also be starting my heavyweight sometime soon using some wheelchair motors. Not entirely sure what it will be when I'm done but it should be something fairly interesting.

I decided I needed an arena of my own for testing and casual fighting so:

I got my hands on some polycarb and started making one!

It stores nicely aswell:

It's not huge by any means but just enough 2 ants can get a decent fight in. I'll also be doing a few things to stop it being so easy to 'pit' opponents. It's just something decent and portable enough that I can take to uni with me and maybe use it for small meets or something. I'm going to use captive nuts to make putting it together and taking it apart easy. The screws are all countersunk and the top sanded so no ants can catch on them either.

Also in a nice twist I have this:

Probably going to make a rubbish heavy for laughs while I try and get a proper one just so I can compete. It'll get mullered every fight but it's all fun!

My main aim right now though is a nice 3D printer!

I managed to get 2 mobility power chairs from ebay that didnt sell so well, were it bits too, but complete, both ones were £40 total! What is impressive is they have the full electronics kit, including scissor lift seats! Im hoping to build a new heavy, but fear that competitions are limited, unless i find a local builder and get in on some competitions. I miss robot wars from my Short Circuit days! http://youtu.be/YG0tzSBt7Yk?t=37s

I am thinking io need to build an arena for testing my new ANTS!!!
Some projects done: Wirelessly controlled mechanical hand/arm
Heavyweight: Short Circuit
Antweight robot : Locking wheel nuts, dell-apidated bANTtry...
Featherweight : Wanna Choppa, CASPer

Short circuit looks like a fun robot :D

I kind of want to try a thwackbot but I have no idea of if those motors have any decent torque in them.

The actual heavy I will build for competing will be a go kart wheeled brushless drive machine with either a 4 bar lifter or an axe (probably an axe :P ).

They do tend to have alot of torque as they have to manouver heavyweights up inclines, so they are good, alot of bots used them, i used mine as a bit of a basher as the chainsaw blew up the day before filming!

Sounds like a half Tornado bot your going for!

Yeah, wheelchair motors have plenty of torque, just not much speed... Just a case of getting enough grip out of those wheel really (and overvolting them I should imagine seeing as it's you  )

Cabrakan 1 on wheelchair motors, 36v and 300mm wheels, for comparison.

Quite nimble actually :D

I reckon if I put something together and maybe bike tyre on the wheels and try and weight the back just enough to get some kind of overhead swing I'll be happy.

Base plan is 2 wheelchair motors, TZ85's for drive (I reckon for wheelchair motors these would be passable) and some kind of mace or something, and SLA's.

The actual heavy I want to compete with I'll be aiming for 6WD. Though I need to sort out the weapon as looking at my pneumatic ram it just isn't enough. Any thoughts on how to do a heavy axe cheaply and not really horrifically badly?

I'll just step into the garage to rebuild accelerant.... Aaaand I made a ducted fan bot. :P It's probably my most bodged bot yet, it's held together mainly by hot glue gun but it works nicely! Currently 136g without a lid or notable front armour. The fan adds about 160g of pure down thrust onto the weight and whatever effect it has via low pressure beneath the bot. When I actually have time/printer I'll be making this a proper not so bodged bot. Also with EC3 connectors as the JST connectors are heating up in this o.O

It has to use 2x 180mah LiPo's for the discharge rate and can't fight for long. I'll upload a test video in a bit. :)
