In completely atypical fashion, I've started work on the robots for the next AWS way in advance! Here's a test fitting of all of the pneumatic components in Flux. Next job is to take it all apart again and epoxy the living daylights out of everything until it daren't even think of leaking.

Even my dislike for pneumatics can't make me less excited for the fact that SCOTT IS MAKING A NEW ROBOT AND NOT JUST A VERSION OF VOID OR ZENITH!

My first full pressure test. I'd had it at 60psi before, but couldn't test it further without putting it all together and epoxying all the joints. It'd literally just reached 100psi on the scale when the tank exploded. The force was such that the end of the tank ripped the entire back corner off the chassis, and the tank departing in the opposite direction ripped a section out of the front/top of the chassis.

I had it all under a towel while I was testing it, and if I hadn't, I could've been seriously injured by a chunk of flying plastic or metal.

As for Flux, I'm going to carry on building it anyway, I think. I'll remake the tank that failed and try again and it should hold 100psi this time. If it does, I'll glue the parts of the chassis that came off back on and carry on building it.

Thats a shame I am looking forward to seeing it compete.
Maybe you should post the picture in the rules discussion where people are proposing to raise the pressure limit.

blimy! i never knew pneumatics were so dangerous! are you making this one really low at the front like void?

Ooosh, that hs gotta hurt, what do you think happened in the tank? did the ends seperate at a weak point? are the ends of the tank screwed in and glued? or just glued? I know several people have played with inhailers as tanks...

Hope its an easy fix and the chasis is ok after epoxying. You need to update your website too with build and pics of this!
