Re: AWS 40
Just made the disc for the flea, 25g should do it
Rhys I haven't started on ICant yet, but a double spinner flea cluster should be fun.

Had a good look at katjusha last week, the only working parts left were the brushless motor, a gear motor and the battery. So katjusha is a no show. Needs a complete rebuilt.

Re: AWS 40
They were partially responsible for the damage... bloody spinners
Re: AWS 40
Well if you don't get ICant done the offer is there. I can't promise it won't accidentally destroy itself on the first hit though, it's a bit shakey. Out of interest, how exactly did you make your disc? Any I've cut myself have always been hideously unbalanced....Andrew_Hibberd wrote:Just made the disc for the flea, 25g should do it

Re: AWS 40
I will take you up on your offer because its going to take more time to make this flea than I had thought. I don't think ICant will be ready for the event.
I machined the disc from 8mm mild steel on the milling machine. I had to file the centre hole out slightly to get it over the motor although its a little loose now, grub screws are on the way from ebay and will also put some epoxy on to help. Tomorrow I am going to make an aluminium hub the same diameter as the motor so I can use my plane prop balancer to get it balanced. This is made by Dubro pic here: http://www.clcombat.info/Images/balance.jpg No idea where I bought it from though. Lots of videos on youtube on how to balance props, the idea is the same for discs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXuNnYQO2s4

Re: AWS 40
I hope to come, however I'm still waiting for some of the parts to arrive that may not be here until the day before the event, so I might (in my case this means probably) still be building the robot at the event, so should I sign up and would it be a problem if I attend without a functioning robot to compete?

Signed up already, but I wanted to check the rules about interchangeable shells and/or weapons, something i'm working on at the moment. Also I may sign up Little Doris for the non spinner competition if i can get it working again.

Wow, this year sure has gone fast. Didn't realise it was this time already!
I'll be signing up as soon as I know that both of my 'bots are definitely working, since I've only just got them out and they both need a bit of electrical work doing. Should be midweekish.
Is there any chance of having the URL of where the stream will be beforehand, so I can share it with friends who might want to watch?

Interchangeable shells and weapons are permitted, as long as every fighting configuration fits in the cube/weight limits.Deskconstructor wrote:Signed up already, but I wanted to check the rules about interchangeable shells and/or weapons, something i'm working on at the moment. There should be a reasonable amount of commonality between each configuration, entering two completely different robots sharing a common battery is not really in the spirit of the rules!
