Hey hey, Been lurking around here harvesting everyones precious knowledge to get into antweights myself. Finally got one together for our states first ant comp (in australia btw). Here it is,

Name- THE PENETRON
Weight- 150g
Drive- 4wd with 2x 1000rpm 16mm ebay gearmotors, 4x 25mm foam tyres with custom hubs on 2x 4mm bearings.
Battery- 2s 130mAh nanotech lipos
Speedo- banebots 3-9
Weapon- 4mm tool steel spike
Armour- 1mm carbon base but the top cover is some random folder, think its mdf covered in film. it sucked lol but i ran out of weight cause the rest of its built like a tank XD

Needs titanium armour, heaps more volts (4s) and some serious weight reduction + better tyres and got to turn the spike into a wedge but its pretty dang reliable. (only a small list of things to do then  ) Next robot is going to be a spring flipper in a 3d printed frame :)

Glen, looking good, very strong! (Though the name disturbs me a little)

Ben, also very good. Can it self right on the axe? I'm guessing so.

Nice work Glen and Ben,

Ben: is your axe meant to creep back like that on its own and does it stall ?

Glen: That thing looks huge, no way does that fit the cube, but you guys don't use the rule for that. Why the metal blocks for the motors ?

It either stalls and breaks the connection on the shaft to motor or I am quicker enough to stop it.

hahaa you'd shyte bricks over here then, everyone commented on how small it was  But i reckon robot fighting should be less about restriction and such so thats why we dont use the cube rule. Its a teeny bit wider then 4" anyway, and not quite that long with the spike. so maybe it would go in diagonally or something? speaking of why are you guys measuring size in an imperial unit and weighing them in metric :P lolwhut.

I had to use metal for the mounts because the gearmotors are 16mm diameter, and the body could be no taller then 18mm to be invertible, i did them from some plastic i had but they kept fatiguing and snapping off, didnt have time to get any good plastic! (made it 3 nights before the event :P) They only weigh 4 grams each anyway which isn't so bad.

What type of plastic would you fellas recommend redoing them from anyway? id like to remake the motor mount and second wheel mount plate from a single piece of plastic. Something that wont fatigue off around the thin parts of the motor mount.

Thanks!
