Thanks "TheAntTrap"TheAntTrap wrote:Looking good Jim are you going to have metal armour on the lifting arm or only 4mm polycarbonate? just wonder if Bruce meet a spinner.
I shall be running away very fast from spinners!!!
I will see how much weight I have to play with after fitting all the vital pieces.
I am thinking of making the internal structure as strong as possible, and then having a destroyable 1mm polycarb armour on top that can be replaced easily.
I am just waiting for fresh stocks of fiberglass board now,to complete the chassis pieces!!

Finally got the fiberglass board I have been waiting for,and have made the chassis sides and added a few bracing pieces. The original bruce chassis sides were much thinner, and were bonded together using lowly araldite rapid 5min epoxy resin as shown here...
But the new improved Bruce chassis is bonded using a decent 2 ton "clear weld" epoxy, and with the bracing pieces should be much stronger...
Weight is...45.2g so far,so should be fine by my calculations.
Cheers Jim

Looks very strong Jim, I wish I could build like that hehe...
I've been trying to make a start on mine - unfortunately exams and revision have been getting in the way (as exams and revision are wont to do) but I should be able to make some progress at the weekend,

Just a quick update...
I am using the packaging from a calculator for side "armour" to save weight.
At a guess I would say it is 0.3mm thick ptfe??
That should allow me more weight for the armour for the lifter
Picture is rubbish,sorry.
Still waiting for batteries,(beginning of Feb). And receiver(on its way from US).
Wondering what to use for the front armour (THIS TIME ) ??
