For minisumo 'bots a Google search is a good starting point.
Also try www.minisumo.org.uk

There are links to kits on the www.antworldseries.tk site - follow the link to the minisumo page.

By a mouse bot I assume you mean a wall-following maze bot (as in micro-mouse)? They are usually a good bit bigger and heavier than ants. It might also struggle to "see" the clear walls of the speedway circuit unless it uses feelers rather than optical sensing. I suppose it should follow the wall and go round OK though. Might get *very* confused when an ant flips it though! :)

I am building a minisumo bot and so is Chris (who usually posts as Kenton) as well as PeterW. There will be a minisumo competition at AWS20 with some more minisumo bots coming from the www.robotbuilder.co.uk forum.

A useful site for all sorts of autonomous robot-related info...

http://www.ikalogic.com

Some articles and a fairly useful forum. Worth a look.

I have built 3 minisumo's now and a micromouse non contact wall follower plus I am attempting a micromouse solver.
See my site www.antweightwars.co.uk where you can find links to the rules and forums for both.
Also in the electronics section you can find the complete circuit diagrams for both mice and minisumo's.
If you want to build a micro mouse solver you can get a kit at http://www.picone.co.uk/ for about ?83 from one of the top teams.
There is a big competition next Saturday in Birmingham for both Mice and minisumo plus many other types usually including Humaniod see

There is a list of kits (well those that are know to me) at http://www.minisumo.org.uk/wiki/index.p ... niSumoKits

Building does't have to be difficult, for beginners I'd recommend the PICaxe micro controller but you may already have a favourite. Like all things building can be as cheap or expensive as you like, I've started to put a few pages together to document a low cost build.

The BigWheel minisumo uses a breadboard version of the PICaxe Control Board PCB, with the edge detection and a little you've got a rolling chassis that can stay in the ring... via the forum I'm sure you can soon get some assistance for opponent detection.

You might find some inspiration in the gallery (or Peter's winning minisumo!)

I've used some lowcost motor gear boxes from www.mutr.co.uk (with cheap wheel) and modified Tamiya twin motor gear boxes... most of this stuff can be found on the website.

just tweaking some opponent detection at the moment but here's a pic of one of the minisumo based upon the control board links posted last time...
