so if you wanna play dirty, you just make sure you lose the first round.

the rest of the competition should then be against the 'losers' untill the end.

easy win

Im not happy with that system to be honest josh. I think that Pete W's system is the best. Trust me if me and dave can pull it off then so can you.

If all else fails I have worked out a very simple method

double elim system
Write all names on paper
Have first round and who ever loose goes into looses round
put winners on a seperate pile to loosers and start two different leagues
who ever looses in the winners side of the league, place names into loosers pile
Who ever looses on the loosers side, take out and discard names

At start of each round just put names in a hat and take out two names for who ever is fighting each other (if belongs to same team then take other name out).

To be honest, with your system I would just loose in the first round so I get to fight all the weaker robots while all the good robots fight it out in the winners side.

Josh I have tried to email you the images but they were bounced back so to I have put them back on photobucket.(see links below)
If you look at Groupsize.jpg you can see how depending on the number of robots which group sizes you require.
16 - 32 robots reqires a 4 group competition where as 33-64 robots requires 8 groups.
If for instance you have 29 robots you need 4 groups one 8way.jpg and three 7way.jpg followed by a 4groupfinal.jpg
If you have 41 robots you need 8 groups one 6way.jpg and seven 5way.jpg followed by two second round groups 8grpUppSecRnd.jpg and 8grpLowSecRnd.jpg followed by a 8groupfin.jpg
It sounds more complex than it is.
The hard bit is to ensure that robots in one team and robots on the same frequency are in seperate groups so they stay apart for as long as possible.
The nice thing with this system is once the groups are decided then everything is automatic and you dont have to keep making draws at each stage.
Good luck if you have any queries give us an email or I will see you at Reading.
