AWS34 Reading March 12th 2011
Moderators: BeligerAnt, petec, administrator
I think I might throw my hat into the ring and make my long awaited return.... well, long awaited by me anyway. About 90% sure I'll be coming. Need to book my train ticket tomorrow to give myself a bit of motivation to build something! If/when I do then I'll get signed up right away.
Kinda looking forward to, been nearly 5 years since my last AWS!

Will be good to see you Rhys, you were before my time but I loved how your robots were put together and look forward to seeing some in the metal/plastic/carbon

Right, official organisers post.
It's three weeks til the AWS, so I thought I'd outline a brief plan for the day, so as to worm out any problems that may come up in advance of the event.
So -
We are staying in a hotel just down the road from the venue. I know Simon said he will be there to open up about 10 o clock, so we'll call that "opening time".
10 - 11am - Set ups and sign ins and fight draws. Hopefully we can get this done quickly with everyone's cooperation
11-Midday - Antweight warm up event and Fleaweight World Series.
As the fleaweights are getting more popular at this event, we want to run a proper FWS, hopefully with double elimination, so we are running it alongside the morning warm up. You can EITHER enter the FWS OR the warm up, but not both, due to the complications this would cause.
For this, we need two arenas. The FWS will take place in Peter Waller's arena in the primary location. The warm up will take place in Oliver's arena, in the secondry location. As both Dave and I will be involved in the FWS, I will need someone to run the warm up for me (Gary and James possibly?). It would also be good if someone could film the warm up for the DVD, as Pete C's camera will probably be filming the FWS.
Midday-1pm - Round 1 AWS, taking place in Peter Waller's arena. Double elimination as usual.
1-1:30pm - Lunch break/Committee meeting
1:30-End - The rest of the AWS. Then whatever 'fun' we can pack in. Dave Weston is going to try and arrange a Robot Roulette tournament to try out his new idea. Tag Team/Melees/the usual also optional, time permitting.
So that's it, hope that all sounds promising for you all. So the only real questions/issues I have are can Pete W and Oliver both bring their arenas, and can someone volunteer to run the single elimination warm up, and possibly film it for the DVD.
Thanks all. All comments welcome. Don't forget to sign up!
