Just signing up now - had some trouble with the internet in the last few days so haven't been able to before. I know what frequency I'll be on now :P

Hey Guys

Nice to see a decent number attending, shame Simon can't make it.

Just so you all know, heres the itinerary:

10: Hall Open
10:30: Tech Checks will start
11:15: Non Spinner start, then lunch afterwards
(Any fleaweights fight before lunch
12:30: AWS
All other events (Flipper Frenzy, Annihilator, etc)
4:00: Presentations
5: Close

BTW, I am going to lead by example after Craig's comments about the rules at AWS 28:
Any ant at time of tech check that is over 152g has until the AWS starts to get it into weight, or IT DOESN'T FIGHT. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but thats the way it ought to be.

Also, I want to see sharp edge protection (Mr Waller...) As stated in the rules

Any more info, let me know

I have just been through the version 4 rules on this site to see the requirements for sharp edge protection and there appear to be non unless I have missed them. Also as a general rule we have in the past allowed up to 152.5 gms but I am not sure where that came from.

The link to the rules on he aws entry page apear to be version 3
which had

5 g. All sharp edges must have protective covers outside the arena. All protective covers are to be coloured red and made clearly visible.

I was looking at the antweight robot rules not the competition guide lines.
Out of interest what constitutes a sharp edge most spinners are not really sharp enough to cut you if you touch them (unless spinning) where as the points on the spikes of my robots certainly are but are not really edges.
Guess it is down to common sense and if I can find some red plastic in time or some red paint or blood.

Red electrical tape would do, I suspect.

Nope, I haven't set a finish date.

Pete: Sharp edge in my opinion constitutes any blade or metal pointed object. This includes all of your/everyone elses spinning weapons, the spikes on Combatant, and the scoop/wedge edges of Defiant and Not-So-/Flippant,
Flipper edges on the HW's are generally sharp edges, However being as most are plastic, I won't enforce that.

Any weapon that uses a razorblade/scalpe blade/hobby knife blade must also be covered.

I'll supply some foam just to be helpful :)

I managed to scrape together enough red plastic by recycling all the old edge protectors from the previous versions of my robots. We were quite good at this some time back but as less and less people bothered I let it slip also.
