Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
Don't worry Dan, just rebuilding 'Moon which has the same spinner mech from the old Why Wait :L What ESC are you using in Fleabite? I'm trying to switch most of my ants over to the new 12A Afro ESCs, since they're cheap and run SimonK firmware (basically the best there is), so hopefully none of mine should suffer spin up issues after that..

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
It is not really a full ant size motor just a bit beefier than the old ones its a C2024.

As to the controller it will be the biggest one I can get in the size and weight.
The old one was a Plush 6 I have a few from a YEP7 though a plush 10 upto a YEP18.
I was looking at the Afro 12A but not quite sure what they meant by multi-rotor specific firmware.

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
It's actually a slightly larger version of what I used to run in HSOD.

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
I have ordered a couple of the Afro 12A to try has anyone tried running the small motors from the little double gearboxes on 3 cells.
Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
It would end very very badly, they don't cope well at 2S under load. And just out of interest I connected one to a 3S with no gearbox... it didn't go well.

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
Cheers for that I will skip that idea or at least make sure the drive to the gear motors is not 3 cell.
Here is what I have so far.

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
That's basically a properly built version of Moon; same spinner motor, same drive units, same layout... Just your one will work :L
3s sounds a bit overkill; I've always just run that brushless on 2s and it's never been short of power. Plus considering moon only had 10g spare for chassis, I'd be surprised if you had the weight for a 3s.
As for the drive units, for running them on 2s I just wound the travel adjust down to 30% and it was fine, (when the signals mix it takes it to 60% max). I'm looking at doing a firmware mod on my ESCs that hard limits the output to 50% so those drive units can be run on 2s without travel adjust or fire :L

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
Cheers Dan if looking the part was all that was needed my robots would probably do better than they do.
I have been experiencing some jamming problems with my gearboxes so have had to go through another iteration of the chassis and wheel design.
Here is the final robot the lighter drive units mean I was able to have a lid this time and upgrade the polycarb from 0.75 to 1.5 mm.
Not sure about the blue tyers though.
