That could be an interesting challenge. How about make a robot for under ?10, and still under the antweight rules, although the frequencies might be a problem.

I've got a roll of rubber from a wholesaler, its similar to the old type of lint roller, but it got a blank surface. Tried to use sandpaper to make the surface more rough. I can bring it with me to AWS 20 so everyone can take a look at it.

If you take how much I've spent on ants and divide it by the 46 I've made since starting, mine average out to well under a tenner each :D

Pound shop challenge sounds good though

How about this then
pound shop challenge (doesnt have to be just a pound shop but can just be a cheap shop).
to build a fully functong combat robot in under a tenner. It doesnt have to be remote controlled but can be tethered. All materials/ electronics have to be scalvaged from things from a pound shop.
I would say u cant order things like polycarbonite but be creative and for instance use the metal from cheap coke cans or the metal from a baking tray. Maybe the carbord from the actual packaging lol.
For the drive think about those cheap toy cars that have motors in them. If you get two u can set up some sort of tank stering. You can use wire and assemble some sort of controller.
Obveous rules are the no flame, liquid or electrica weaponsl. U get the drift.
Oh and there isnt a currant weight limit.
Il give it a go and take some pictures.

I wanna give it a go since a tenner usually doesnt cover th ecost of a servo.

This is a really cool idea - I'm definatly up for giving it a go, however much of a catastrophic failure it may be!

I'd like to ask someone to organise a mini-comp at AWS20 maybe for those of us willing to try this? Would be a very interesting challenge.

Edit: would be nice to see full rules aswell if were gonna do something like this, weight/size etc, also i ask questions like are nuts and bolts and wire etc that i already have allowed or does every tinyest little thing need to be from the pound shop?

well I have b ought all the parts
I have managed to find 2 4 wheel drive kit cars! I am going to remove two of the whels and have 4 wheel drive tank steering.
Next thing i need to look into once i build the second car is material. Going to probs get a baking tray.
After that I have 7 pounds for weapons.
For the controller I have bought 4 micro switches from maplins which totals up to about 2 pound.
Im not sure about inplying a weight limit, I plan to gather a few people who have had a go building one and come up with the rules between us over a pint.
