Ah yeah, the ESC I was thinking of using is also 2 cell minimum... damn it! Looks like yet another HK order's required! *sigh*.. Ah well, the whole cost of this Nano is still around £20 so far, so can't complain too much :L

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
The tiny brushless motor arrived. The mounting is weird, but I'm sure I can make something up:

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
Well, turned out the motor wasn't too bad to mount:
I stole the parts from Lift-a-little to throw together a vertical spinner as I thought I needed the lighter drivetrain to allow for the brushless motor. Turns out the whole thing weighs in at just 15g, with only the brushless ESC and rear armour left to be fitted. I'm probably going to put most of the final 10g over the rear wheels, as steering is a little light atm...
Lift-a-little will be rebuilt when the 10 small motors that Pete suggested arrive next week.

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
I hooked up my new motor and esc but the motor is often reluctant (good name for an ant) to start using a single cell.
I connected the previous motor to the new esc and it works fine even with a hub fitted.
Weighing the bits the bigger motor would be overweight unless I make it a walker which would be a 37.5 gm limit.

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
Just chopped 200mm off the motor wires (designed to reach the rear of a helicopter) and it start every time all be it without a load.
Re: Another New Nanoweight...
I'm probably gonna have to wait until Monday before my 1cell esc arrives.
Realised that because my 'blades' were only held on using what is effectively a rubber band, as soon as it spun up, the band would expand and fall off the motor. I've wrapped heat shrink around it to try and mitigate the problem.. hopefully it works! :L

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
So fortunately Alex had a spare servo which I could use to repair Spini, so I didn't have to steal the parts for my final Nano... Therefore I present Sir Lift-A-Lot:
It's not got it's armour on in the photo; wanted to show off my tidy wiring It's kinda a cross between Haggis and Richie, and seems to work pretty well. It tends to pick other robots up more than flip them, but that's kinda the idea. Should be joining my Nanoweight team and the 6 bot cluster when it's all finished

Regarding the 6 bot cluster, who's team is that going to be signed up to? I thought it was Alex but he seems to have more than enough entries on his own.
