I know they put out all the warnings about looking directly at the sun but a combination of cloud and mist meant where I am I could look directly at it and even photograph it.

Not bad at all! I tried to make a bodgey bodge thing with an old digital camera and some cardboard, but the results were rubbish. I know John Denny got some really nice photos through his welding mask, so he might post them here.

I managed to get a couple of good ones, one of which was through a welding mask, but the auto-darkening function didn't kick in as there was a lot of cloud around, so it's rather green!
