Small Helicopter

While ordering some bits from HobbyKing I got tempted by one of these at about £22 including radio battery andd even a built in gyro.

It does but it is not a similar as it first looks.
I put the usual 4 AA cells in the battery compartment and no power light, not having read the instructions I was just begining to think it was faulty when I noticed two further single AA battery compartment one either side.
Once I had the full compliment of 6 cells it all burst into life.
There is also a USB socket on the transmitter so you can plug in the supplied charger to recharge the helecopter battery from the TX rather than from your computer USB.
It uses all four channels if you buy the mode2 unit that is right stick for backwards / forwards and left / right bank and left stick throttle for climb / decend and rudder for rotate left / right.

Those co-ax helis are great.I have been crashing indoor helis for a couple of years now,after crashing a big expensive petrol outside heli many times a good few years ago.I highly recommend one of these...

You can buy them "bind and fly",without a Tx ,and they work great with a dx6i.
They are as stable as a coax,so you can hover them gently around the house.But as you can see by the video,they can move alot quicker when you want them too.
I have had mine for about 2 years,and have never broken anything on it.I replaced the battery last year,as it seemed to die suddenly,but that is the only maintenance I have done.

They do look good I must admit I hadn't seen those, they are real helicopters.
I havent done much more than hover mine around and try and land on the skids.
I finally got round to trying it outside yesterday as the wind had dropped considerably but all my batteries were almost flat and by the time I recharged them I had been distracted by something else.
I really need the extra space in the garden to practice doing circuits but they are fun and very robust.
