I've got a voltage regulator (for some reason someone was giving them out last reading robot club). In the diagram on your website it shows me how to wire it but I don't have the wires etc. and the capacitors and stuff.

As you only need a couple of capacitors, your best bet is your local Maplin shop. You need order code BX03D, and they will set you back all of 15p each! You can also get a small quantity of suitable wire ("equipment wire" or "hook-up wire") from Maplin. Of course you will also need a soldering iron and some solder.
If you already have some wiring between your battery and receiver, you may be able to shorten this and use the left-over bits for the extra wiring.
