I think Jonathan's right, that's a lot of money for something that could just as easily be made out of polycarbonate. You should only really be splashing out on shapeways if you need something complicated, or you need to save weight. $73 is a lot for what is essentially a straight box. I've made a few orders from there recently and my most expensive ant was only about $40, while the cheapest was my new fleaweight which was only $15.
Have a play with Sketchup, it's really easy to pick up, you can teach yourself to use it quite quickly as you only need about 10 basic functions to make most shapes and designs. Then you can upload them to shapeways yourself and see how much they will costs, how much they will weigh etc. and then if necessary you can make adjustments.

Before you criticize another person, first walk a mile in their shoes. Then, when you critisize them, you'll be a mile away and have their shoes.

Re: shapeways.
the dimensions are in the bottom right corner, you can type them in. so to draw a square you click the square tool, click where you want to start the corner, once, then type the measurements say "20,20" and press enter and it draws a square 20x20mm as long as you set it up in the right units. then use the push/pull tool to add thickness, again measurement in the corner of the screen go to as far as you like. only thing to remember with shapeways is that the model must be manifold, which means it cannot be open and all the blue face have to be on the inside, if they're facing out, right click and press reverse face.
