Josh: I think 4:1 is a bit low, might struggle to move the robot to get under stuff (Satanix is 6:1 on 18v and it sometimes struggles to get moving again once its a little under stuff)

Ben: Do NOT call your robot Tosser! No-one will be allowed to say it out loud for starters (John wasn't allowed to say Boner when it came third at the feather champs last year)

Ben, stick with the Tosser.
Boner's been said out loud loads of times; the fun part is watching people cringe when they say it (either when commentating or announcing a judges' decision) or try to alter the pronunciation to make it sound less distinguishable.
Besides, the added humour is always welcome :)

Just been having a quick look at this idea and I am very impressed. If you can get this working without the whole thing ripping itself apart then I think the arena roof may be in danger :)

On a slightly different note- the flipper arm itself will have to be incredibly tough to deal with the forces that ram can generate- on Whirlwind for example I use a 60mm bore ram at Full Pressure and it bends reinforced Hardox flipper arms with ease- it also seems to like wrecking the pivot point too as it managed to snap a solid 8mm steel shaft and still bends a 12mm one- as a result Whirlwind is currently awaiting a bit of a rebuild to see to some of these issues.

If you can overcome these issues then you should be onto a winner- Maelstrom used to use a very similar valve setup for its flipper- we eventually changed it to a series of 5 Burkert valves to improve the reliability as we kept on losing the o-rings inside the valves and had to strip the entire machine apart to replace them.

Anyway I hope you manage to get this one going and I can't wait to see it in action!
