Re: Another New Antweight..
I dont use servos, haven't for about 8 years I used to use the 6mm gear motors on mico servo control boards but now I make my own receiver with built in controllers (much like the deltang ones.
Re: Another New Antweight..
That's quite some dedication to go as far as making your own receivers! I looked into it, but decided it wasn't worth it in comparison to a Lemon Rx attached to an ESC.
I assumed they were servos due to the robot creeping slightly in the video, but if you were using servo boards as ESCs then that would make sense.
How are the 6mm gear motors then? As I say, they look good but comparatively expensive..

Re: Another New Antweight..
The 6mm motors are what I use in Alsoran they are a little fast for me but Hogi normally drives it in the cluster and he seems to have more control.
It was because of the cost and the tiny plastic gears I was looking for a replacement.
By the way Rory I ordered 10 of the standard motors from Aliexpress that you supplied the link for and they arrived today.
Just 15 days and only £2 each and all working correctly so chears for that.
Here is a link to the gearmotor I modified in the post above just £3.99 for 5 off.

Re: Another New Antweight..
Glad you like them; there's always something satisfying about opening a large box of gear motors :L
Oooh, just spotted these 6mm gear motors at £3.99: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-micro-gea ... 4233&rt=nc
I mean, they're way too slow, but where there's one cheap, it's usually possible to find more I'll have another look later....
If not, I wonder if it would be possible to remove the gears from the middle carrier plate, then just glue it to the previous plate. should bring the speed up to around 500rpm, which is a much more useable speed. Looking at the picture it seems doable, and at £3.99 it's not too much a disaster if it doesn't work...

Re: Another New Antweight..
This week's robot: a Nanoweight version of BullyDozer
Weighs in at 20g, and has a rather short battery life, but can just push BullyDozer around, and can easily shift most of my other robots.
I've used a V-tail mixing board so I can use it with one of the cheap remotes (which'll need to be used if I'm to cluster them), however the steering is backwards and I'm not sure how to change the direction on the transmitter..
Thinking of just calling it "MiniDozer"

Re: Another New Antweight..
Now with some armour:
Still only 21g, so got plenty of weight spare if need be.. Needs a Dymo name tag and it'll be all finished
Now just need some others to fight against now

Hehe, well I'm putting together a Nanoweight arena soon hopefully, so bring it along to an event and we can settle it in the ring so to speak
I still have Smidge which fought as part of a cluster at the last AWS; that one weighs in at 5g, though some might say it was a little hard to control
