Re: A new antweighter (again!)
I did get away in The Hurting with just mounting the motor horizontally onto 1mm polycarb with three M2 bolts, and that was a *very* insane spinner! (that might possibly be because the base was able to flex to absorb energy)
Variant was an interchangable spinner/lifter, and that used quite stiff material (fibreglass) and a couple of bolts to secure the spinner subframe, so it can be done - you'd just need to make sure the mounting points were strong enough. It might help to design the 'base' robot to help with the forces involved a bit too, a wedge needs less modification than a nasty spinner thing (and I echo Alex's comments about safety - make sure the on/off switch is easily accessible too and the failsafe works!)

So spinner notes are
1.be very very careful with sharp things
2.don't take mounting by half
3.think through all safety measures
4.start sensible

Variant was named because it had interchangeable weapons.
Here with a scoop and lifter.

Here with a spinner.

The spinner or scoop were held on by three screws.

Underneath the spinner controller pluged in as you slide the module on.

Re: A new antweighter (again!)
Yeah, Bad Idea's is just that; a very Bad Idea: Waay to over powered to be at all usable in competition, and very dangerous (all of which I knew when I built it but I just wanted a ridiculous spinner :L). Definitely would suggest something a lot smaller.
Look through Dan's build thread on Cut Up; that was a similarly community supported build, so much of what has and will be said here is already on Dan's build thread. I'd suggest having a read through if you haven't already: http://robotwars101.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2231

Re: A new antweighter (again!)
Did what you said and looked carefully and I haven't actually done any spinner work as a result, just designed a prototype chassis.
I am quite happy to say I've got my hands on an lp6dsm controller and I've bound it and fiddled with the little switches in the corner and I've got it to steer normally but I don't know how to get my servo onto the fifth channel(the switch)as it is currently stuck on the joystick, any help, thanks in advanced?

After composing a hobbyking order I would just like to quickly check that I found a good esc, would this link below work on 3 cells:

Re: A new antweighter (again!)
It specifically says in the specifications:
"Input voltage: 1-2S Lithium batteries"
So that's a no.

Re: A new antweighter (again!)
That should be fine on 2 cell in all honesty. A faster blade doesn't equal better hits past a point.

Parts ordered (:
Seen as the originally planned flail would need to be homemade and would require the e word...engineering, I am looking now at nicely asking here does anyone have a decent sized bar blade or disc(would probably prefer a bar but anyone willing to give up something sharp for a few coppers would be great)
