Hi Roboteers!
What is your opinion on this ESC and does have a built in BEC or a way of stepping down the voltage from my 7.4V LiPo?
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm a complete beginner to this hobby and from what I gather your quote recommends a resistor for each motor but I don't quite understand how this would step the voltage down for the receiver?Shakey wrote:This should help:

Thanks for helping out and sorry for my ignorance haha.

It has a built in regulator.
In my post you can see I talk about the resistors in order to generate a braking effect for the motors. Without this the robot is much harder to drive. That part doesn't have anything to do with voltage regulation.

By the way, I soldered a resistor on each motor, as recommended on the other thread. They're getting really hot, though--pardon my electronics ignorance, but is this normal? Okay?
Re: Opinions on the DasMikro 2S6A ESC
They'll get warm, if they're getting too hot though just increase the resistance a bit. It's not an exact art, the lower the resistance the more aggressive the braking but the hotter they'll be.tomchaps wrote:By the way, I soldered a resistor on each motor, as recommended on the other thread. Re: Opinions on the DasMikro 2S6A ESC

There appears to be three variations of this ESC, which would you reccommend and which resistors do you think would work best?
Thanks.
Re: Opinions on the DasMikro 2S6A ESC
Option A, and as I wrote in the post about resistors I found 50 Ohm to be a good option.
