Re: Epic Robotics
Oh I see! That's really smart. Disables any plan I had to attack it by driving at the front corner anyway.

Re: Epic Robotics
Well you've got the right idea; this design's main weakness is that it really only has a small area where the disk is effective. I already have ideas to make that better for the future, but I just wanted to get this built to test the design out. If you can repeatedly get around the sides or back I can't do much about it, apart from flail and hope I catch you with the tooth.

Re: Epic Robotics
The way mine are this time, if I meet any spinner, I am coming out in bits. But that's always fun.

Re: Epic Robotics
How drivable is it with the disc at full whack? Do you get any odd gyro effects due to the disc angle?

Re: Epic Robotics
I don't have an enclosed arena to test it in, unfortunately. I've driven it around at about 25% throttle and it was perfectly controllable, but was too scared to go any higher!

I could sense my name being used. Just been watching the AWS live stream.
RefAnt and KatKin can be seen on Gary's site here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/g0xan/sac/pictures.htm
Back in the days of servo's it was a squeeze, but Katkin ran on 4 micro servos with a stripped down RX and very tame disc motor. It was more a show piece than a full on fighter.
RefAnt was just a concept Gary and I had that we put into place, I guess with current tech it could be made a whole lot smaller.
Speak soon guys.
