Re: Controversial Completion of a Cluster
Perfect! Thanks so much for the link to the Hobbyking servos! Just checking, they are a standard JR plug aren't they?
As for the single cell lipo, I'm not allowed to use lipo batteries as they can be very dangerous and have settled on 15g 4 cell NiMH batteries which have proven to be light enough.
I shall be waiting for the Hobbyking R400 to get back in stock as well as the servos- luckily, the servos are in transit right now!
Thanks everyone! Any more suggestions would be very much appreciated!

So long as you don't do anything stupid like overdischarge or eat your batteries Lipo is safe as houses. I've blown up more NIMH packs than lipo.

One hit here totally caved in my baseplate which my lipo was attached to. The battery was physically bent and caved in itself yet no fires or explosions.
Check giantshark for some small servoey things. They have an okay selection and its moderately cheap. Not brilliantly so anymore but still aight for some things.

Thanks very muh for the info!
Yes, I will investigate lipo packs if I cannot get in weight with the NiMH pack - thanks!
(Hope your robot was OK!)

Thanks!

Re: Controversial Completion of a Cluster
It's hard to tell from the photo and of course there is no useful description
It looks to me like it's a Futaba (servo type) connector, I think that is perhaps most likey - the output connector is the same type (opposite gender) as the input connector.
Next most likely would be JST as they are very popular for (receiver) battery packs.
You can safely lose all of the plastic casing around the switch and save several grams.

Re: Controversial Completion of a Cluster
I have one of these, and they are 3 pin connectors on the other socket side, just one pin is not connected. Normally if they are the 2 pin battery connections, these sockets are red.

Thanks for your replies!
Roboteermat: Do you know if it has a cut out for a little ridge as shown in the attachment?
Thanks!

It's a standard connector, it should be. If not you can trim the ridge off the other.

Re: Controversial Completion of a Cluster
I dont think it did, but if it didnt just file off the tab, fits perfectly.
Edit:
Although, if its for an ant, you may as well cut it off and solder directly to save some weight!
