Re: New Robots- Continued
New robot... Raoul
Raoul is a drum spinner.
It started out as this...
But I soon figured out it was going to weigh something silly, like 300g at least.
So I tried to lighten it and used some hdpe...
And I had to lighten the steel bars as much as possible...
But the final design is this...
Here is a link to some vids...

The plan was to have 2 motors, but it is not practicle at the mo.
So it weighs a lowly 135g's at the mo!!
Also I made it as small as possible to keep the weight down.
It is 90mm long,80mm wide,and 35mm high.
I think it could squeeze into a fleaweight box!!!
I may put 15g's of weight in the drum,or get a bigger battery. The 11.1v 240mah 20C battery I have lasts barely a minute and a half!!!
Grrr Arrgghhh!

...bloody...hell...that is possibly the single best looking and best designed robot I've ever seen in antweights XD It's absolutely fantastic, I genuinely look forward to seeing it in person at the AWS if you can make it, of if not at whichever event it attends

Looks brilliant! Is that aluminium the drum body is made from? will it not warp with all the holes in it?

Probably!!josh wrote: Looks brilliant! Is that aluminium the drum body is made from? will it not warp with all the holes in it?
To be honest,I am not sure.It is a high grade,and 2mm thick,from my kit-car build!
I may be able to make it solid, now I have an extra 15g to play with.
I will do lots of testing to find out!
Thanks for the kind words,chaps.
Joey,I would love to come to the AWS,but I dont think I will be able to.
The rest of my family aren't quite as enthusiastic as me about antweights. I am working on getting my daughter involved, that way,if she wants to go,then I will just have to take her!!
Jim.

Can it self right? If it can get stranded on its back then I'd use those extra grams on a strimech. But yeah, I think it looks awesome .
