Re: Harry Makes Ants

That pneumatic flipper is great!

Sorry about your skin getting glued. We've all been there.

Re: 3D printers

Yes Carbon/PLA should be the same but it is abrasive and will wear the nozzle faster than normal PLA. I haven't tried it myself just using PLA for now, but I do use the Hackspace printers sometimes they have ruby nozzles which are wear resistant.

Re: Ant Freeze 8

Great, I might stand a better chance with my axe bot, given that there are usually only a few axes :)

Re: Team Astro Build Log (Cheese bots)

Sounds like overkill cnc for such a simple part, you can probably make it with mostly hand tools out of the right thickness of polycarb. As a quick tip: materials which cannot be laser cut, either stick some masking tape, then laser etch the design, or just print out the design on paper and stick it...

Re: Team Astro Build Log (Cheese bots)

Excellent job for a first outing. I'm glad I helped- I was a last-minute drop-out :) I see the spinner mounting piece sheared off despite being made of TPU - which is impressive. I suggest maybe either try a softer TPU, or perhaps remake that piece out of a different material or as a bolt-in piece o...

Re: Hobbyking

I expect it to get sorted eventually, HK do try to be a good retailer in my experience (I've ordered a few times) --- The difficulty with smaller retailers stocking / shipping lipos is the rules concerning safe storage and transp...

Re: Hobbyking

I would definitely chase it up, the items weren't on "back order" were they?

I've never had them take more than a few days really. I try to only order stocked items.

The mecanum wheel robot is amazing.

Getting a 4wd + mecanum + active weapon in 150g is a good effort. I hope it does well.

Re: Crusher, why not?

I think it's yes - related to physics, but also the more mundane - availability of parts. The hydraulics which some heavies use, are somewhat tricky in Antweight. The only way I can see it is to use bicycle hydraulic brake parts, but those are very specialised. Ideally you'd need some way of getting...
