Re: GeorgeR's robots
Did a bit of weapon testing, I heard the traditional method was to smash up a can... http://i.imgur.com/dhX9gPcl.jpg I didn't get above 1/4 throttle due to my improvised arena but it certainly did the job. Seemed to be stable when dishing out the hits too, although obviously the can weighs less than...

That is a seriously good looking ant, I love the hole saw weapon idea. Hope you get in on weight for the aws!

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Thanks Pete, I'm really pleased with how the aluminium angle turned out. The neat bends are all down to a little former I made when building Zero, it's a bit of brass bar 1/4 x 3/4 x 4inch, I filed a 6mm radius along one edge and a 2mm radius along another, and bend the metal around the radiused edg...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
The electronics on the spinner, now named Vampire, are done, which means I couldn't resist doing a quick spinup test on the weapon... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBC9Hv6bW1g All that's left now is to mount everything in the chassis and make a top panel. Can't wait to get this into action, it sho...

That looks absolutely fantastic, I'm really impressed with how well it drives. Hope to see it at an event soon.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
I've made some more progress on the spinner... http://i.imgur.com/9x5vTe1.jpg It's still lacking any electronics, wheels, motors, or a top, but you get the idea. I was originally planning on making my next ant kinda Tombstone alike, but after ages playing around with the design I still couldn't sett...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
I'm going for carbon fibre for the chassis on this one, if it's not strong enough it's going to break in half rather than bend! But I wanted something light but rigid so it's worth a shot.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Well you can if you want, but I'm far from sure the chassis design is strong enough to avoid a spectacular self destruction as soon as it hits anything. I guess I'll just have to build it and see.
