I can only add that with the linkage method on Garys page the servo horn can be extended to give even more flexibility on the linkage travel.
You can use a compass on paper or a cad sketch to find the designed angles and lengths.

I haven't tried it but my idea was the make the track in a big round mould with the tread on the outside and teeth on the inside. Possibly using some thread to give some internal support. Standard rollers on the motors and free end. The mould size then adjusts the tension.

Disc is lighter than the last kwijebo as the leg mechanism has got 16 bearings in it but spins over 50% faster.
