Charger question
Hi Does this charger look good? I know it is just for 1s, but I can't find any that I want (isdt or hobbymate) that are sold by Amazon itself right now and I've got a free $15 off $25 for using their photos app that musy get spent. If this is decent for 1s use I might get it just to use the coupon a...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
What happened to filthy casuals? I was rewatching AWS 49 and really like this bot. Looks nifty! Will you ever bring him back? Filthy Casuals as a personal bot is retired but it still somewhat lives on. That geared drive iteration worked well enough it formed the basis for quite a few robots since: ...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Why not buy a batch of the "super cheap" Hobbyking 2-3S lipo chargers (DC input), and build some kind of splitter cable so they can all run from the same (suitably rated) mains power supply. They also have (if I remember correctly) screw holes in the back for mounting on a panel, e.g. a p...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Post AWS 55 update! I know, late as normal but I'm feeling nostalgia for these post event posts. !Snip! Charge Block An issue I regularly have when my team has 6 individual bots running in every tournament is charging. My poor single channel charger does an admirable job but often it just isn't eno...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
I never did my normal post or even pre event update so here we go! Filthy Casuals http://i.imgur.com/b5DbABj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cyzdO6n.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3q1g16M.jpg I only finished filthy casuals the night before and it showed in the weapon as it just lacked the throw to be fully effectiv...

Re: ESC with built-in receiver - interesting?
I've been trying to develop a ESC with built-in receiver. (Or is it a receiver with built-in ESC?) If I could build something like this, would anyone be interested? In particular, would you pay money to buy one or two? * Radio protocol - AFHDS2A - compatible with the popular FS-i6 transmitter and s...

Re: Team Ions build diary
For testing servos, use a servo tester. I got a "LiteBee HJ Digital Servo Tester" from Amazon for about ten bucks (as i believe one would say your side of the pond). Lots of other models available at similar prices. Basically you plug a lipo into one set of pins and the servo in another (...

Re: Team Ions build diary
First up on names - I just want to point out that you can't spell minionhunter without ion... I'm stuck with the Chinese parts orders waiting months for my robot building parts to arrive. I've designed my bot and my kids have designed theirs, but it's all on paper. The only parts I have are 4 servos...

Re: ESC with built-in receiver - interesting?
May seem an obvious point but something that's often overlooked when discussing ESCs is a nice clean proportional response. I've found a number of the cheap Chinese ESCs (as well as some servo boards) are a bit 'all or nothing'; soon as you move the stick out of the dead band, the RMS voltage jumps...
