Re: ESC with built-in receiver - interesting?
Oh yes - I will make all power connections (battery + motors) be pin-through-hole or wire-through-hole, with nice big holes (1mm) and big annular rings to allow lots of nice solder to flow on them. I hate soldering wires to tiny delicate pads, that's what always breaks the Dasmikros. (In current des...

ESC with built-in receiver - interesting?
I've been trying to develop a ESC with built-in receiver. (Or is it a receiver with built-in ESC?) If I could build something like this, would anyone be interested? In particular, would you pay money to buy one or two? * Radio protocol - AFHDS2A - compatible with the popular FS-i6 transmitter and so...

Re: What transmitters are the favourite now?
A really simple mod that I do on my FS-i6's .. Unscrew the alloy ends on the sticks, then screw them back on reversed so that the sharp "spikey" ends are not digging into your thumbs or fingers. BTW, the FS-i6 is the defacto standard in our local scene. Mike. WHY oh WHY didn't I know you ...

Re: Servo actuation questions
Does it have motor braking? Yes, see https://github.com/MarkR42/malenki-esc/ ... ing.c#L180
Here is a picture which I took just before the fights, in case it got broken (it didn't, despite fighting "Why Wait?")

Re: Servo actuation questions
I made it myself, some info is here https://github.com/MarkR42/malenki-esc It's a little unconventional for Antweight robots because it uses a different interface to the RX, ibus or sbus, which is more commonly used on drones. Basically it is a three-channel brushed ESC with mixing and a few optiona...

Re: After the esc, the other stuff - simplistic questions
@minionhunter I can report that the N10 motors I mentioned earlier in the thread - sold as "700 RPM 6V" - were absolutely fine for my robot, I think my wheels are about 22mm. I guess if you used much bigger wheels they would probably be too fast. NB: I was running those on a 2S pack, like ...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
I've not done any real testing, but I suspect the N20s have more power. If you're using them for a weapon, I'd recommend the more powerful ones. I could measure the stall-current or static resistance if you like. N20s are not all created equal, they seem a bit random, most of the ones I have seem to...

Re: Servo actuation questions
Servos move to the position they're commanded, from "full left" to "full right", or whatever those positions are called, depending on the pulse width, typically 1000us / 2000us respectively (with 1500us being centre) - and anywhere in between, they are fully analogue. You can do ...

Re: What transmitters are the favourite now?
Looking around at the last event or two, I'd say that the FS-i6 or other AFHDS2A (Turnigy / Flysky) transmitters seem very popular nowadays, that's probably because they're cheap and reliable.

Great job running the event, as usual.
Also nice to see the automated fight control system, it does save a lot of shouting "drivers ready? three two one etc...". Clearly there are a few minor tweaks which could be made but still very useful.
