Re: T_Y's Build Log

I'm using the Dremel brand ones that came with my Dremel. I've actually found that the 1mm 6082 is soft enough for me to just put the drill bit into my pin vice and hand drill the hole. Much more accurate. I picked up some clamps and two pieces of steel to bend the aluminium on a new shield which wr...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

holy moly... your going to build a rail gun bot... ;) Antweight Rail Gun Max would be awesome! With AWS 59 only a few weeks away, designing and building has stepped up. I've finally made the jump to use metal on my bots, with the introduction of a new hinged aluminium wedge/plough for Percussive Ma...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

RoboShowdown yesterday was great fun, a more relaxed affair than the AWSes I've been to by virtue of not having anywhere near as many bots there. There were some nice whiteboards and special fights as well which were entertaining to say the least. The day started off with the 2v2s. I was planning on...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

It's done! The long anticipated (for at least!) revamp of Percussive Maintenance, I give you Percussive Maintenance 2: Tech Support Boogaloo! https://i.imgur.com/QiVSYaz.jpg Here it is next to the previous chassis for comparison. It's shorter, but having the 2 stage sides actually means that there i...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

Just over a week to RoboShowdown and progress has been made. The armour has all been cut out for PM2: https://i.imgur.com/BugwZoh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bxktJHp.jpg I did a bit of testing of the axe as well, borrowing the NanoTwo from HYTTIOAOA for that. It's... MUCH faster and stronger than previo...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

I bought a roll of PETG filament as I ran out of PLA+ and wanted to see how well it would do. Unfortunately I've been having problems with layer adhesion, particularly higher up the print, as well as with supports, so I need to sort that out. https://i.imgur.com/xiYRtDV.jpg In the meantime, back to ...

Re: RoboShowdown

I've signed up with 2 bots, but one may not be ready depending on if stuff is delivered on time - should I edit my submission with a third bot, and drop one on the day (I only want to bring 2 into the main competition)? I'm bringing along my brother for the ride (hopefully get him hooked into combat...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

Good point about the front armour.

I think I'll stick with 1.5mm for the front, lower sides and base, 1mm for the tail section and 0.5mm for the top and upper sides. That should give me an extra 6.5g to play with. Perforating the base and the front armour panels should also shave off a few grams.
