Re: Noob bot: Unmitigated Disaster
Yes wheelie is a big problem, I will add weight to the front and/or add a small tail piece to try to hold the nose down. I expect I'll get it right in the end, I've only 3d-printed about 4 different versions of the shell so far :) I could put more of the gubbins in the front end but I'm worried that...

Re: Another noob bot
Yes, it's fine.
The current must be rated at least as much as it requires, it won't start any fires if the PSU is higher rated. Nothing bad will happen.

Re: A hello and a Fail log of my attempts
Perhaps you could try stripping less insulation, it leaves a lot of room for short circuits. Or alternatively, use solid core wire - although that is susceptible to fatigue. The Dasmikro doesn't have holes, it makes the connections mechanically weak; I wish they'd make the board 1mm bigger and put h...

Noob bot: Unmitigated Disaster
I've decided to call this Unmitigated Disaster, because it seems I've got everything almost all wrong already. Although it fits in the 4" cube and doesn't weigh much (yet) (most of the gubbins is missing yet), it's still wrong already. There is a serious balance problem, it's not going to be ab...

Re: AutoBot
That is so cool. I'm looking at ways of incorporating a Pi Zero into an antweight fighting bot. My initial plan is to wire it up to the Dasmikro ESC, power it from the Dasmikro's regulator and output PWM signals to drive the main motors. Servos (e.g. weapon) can be driven directly from a Pi's GPIO (...

Re: First time building diary: Third Law
Some of the speed controllers, (I don't know about Rory's) have a built-in regulator, known in RC-speak as a "BEC" or "Battery Eliminator Circuit" - because traditionally its role was to eliminate the need for a second (receiver / servo) battery on a RC car. Antweight robots usua...

Re: First time building diary: Third Law
About LEDs - diodes have a "forward voltage", which is the amount of voltage they will drop (almost independent of current) - this is the opposite of a resistor which has a constant resistance. So if you wire several LEDs in series, calculate the forward voltage (1.8V seems typical for som...

Re: First time building diary: Third Law
I see that there are various motor mounting options; I like the idea of using a plastic (maybe 3d printed, or bent polycarb) mount, then making "wrap around" wheels which overlap the gearbox. I saw that technique on a youtube video, it looks like quite a neat idea to save length on the gea...

Re: Hello, and a bot
That is cool, I'm currently designing (/building when parts arrive) a 3d printed antweight which uses Raspberry Pi Zero as a receiver (I'll use the common Dasmikro speed controller and have the Raspberry Pi spit out PWM - I've done that before). I'm hoping using the Pi could enable more "intere...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Does the Dasmikro have pin-through-hole or surface pads for the connections? I'm guessing looking at the pictures that it's surface pads, it's easy to mechanically stress them (e.g. pull on the soldered wire), then the track comes off the pcb. Is that what happened? I'm guessing appropriate applicat...
