Re: Brushless motor help

Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat but does anybody use these for ants?

They look to have suitable mounting holes and a decent amount of power, but are they physically too small to stand up to hits?

Thanks guys, unfortunately I can't make it this weekend as I'm at a wedding, but I'll definitely get to the next event, whenever that is.

GeorgeR's robots

I guess I'll make a thread for my antweights, so here is my first attempt, Zero . For my first ant I wanted something simple and robust so i went for a basic 2 wheel drive rambot. http://i.imgur.com/BmH8TAb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pMUC7D6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ct8WS1u.jpg Specs 121x93x32mm, 149g Nan...

The video's up on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzdKvL6mqJw

Looks like a lot of fun, absolutely love the box! My first ant is almost done now so I'll definitely be at the next one.

Re: Axe motor/servo?

Gearmotors it is then. I'm going to get calculating and figure out the best option for gear ratios, and thanks for the Vex 29 recommendation, I hadn't seen those before. It would be great if it does actually turn out to be effective, and if not the stupidly large axe should at least be entertaining ...

Re: Axe motor/servo?

Yeah, 10cm is going to be a tight fit, I think it can be done, and if not its going to be very close, I can definitely get a 9.5cm arm in. I did see that some people had used gear motors before, but was thinking that a servo would be simpler as it wouldn't require external positioning switches. I gu...

Axe motor/servo?

Looking at the aws videos on youtube there doesn't seem to be many axe/hammer bots, so just to mix it up I thought I'd have a go at making one, but was wondering about powering the axe. My initial idea was to mod one of the high speed servos (turnigy 306 or emax es9256) for 180 degree rotation and u...

Re: The "Robot Wars" Effect

Hello everybody, I'm new here too. I always loved robot wars when I was younger and wanted to build one at the time, but my teenage self lacked the skills. I hadn't thought about it for years, but the new show reminded me and I found my way here. I'm definitely going to build an antweight or two and...
