Re: The smart ant's and flea's

AntFreeze 7 Great event, loved the ready buttons and fight control system. Main point on that was the voice it has was not very easy to understand most of the time. Would have been nice if the preveusly planned qualification system was used to see how that works out without using a full AWS to try i...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

Ah i haden't understood the rf was a difrent board, I see why your board is the way it is now. I agree that ossilator is massive theres got to be something smaller that would work.

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

i've considerd making the SmartBoard v2 inculde a dsmx reciver but couldnt find a good source of a chip with firmwere to do so. the board design for bluetooth is bassicly ready but softwere will need to be devloped hopefully to alow for lost of diffrent control methods such as phone apps or blutooth...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

For now smartboard v2 is paused. The design is basicaly done i just can't justify the cost of maufature right now on a student budget. so for Ant Freeze the same 3 robots ive been running for the last year will be in attendence. They have been extreamly lucky in nealy never coming up against spinner...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

Does it need a lot of external radio gubbins such as capacitors, inductors? I assume it's a pcb trace antenna I know there are plenty of reference designs knocking around which will probably perform well enough for robot combat. I've found a tiny component st have made to take care of all the inped...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

Seems like a lot of electronics for the smart board v2, those STM dual core processors things are 48-pin 0.5mm QFN looks pretty tricky to hand-solder, although not impossible if you design the footprint for easier hand-soldering. Also, maybe the design of that board will be a little complicated, th...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

No actual progress on robots as im struggling to get my new desines to fit the electronics i currently use, the 'SmartBoard'. Its fairly large at 21x28mm plus a bit on the side for the bluetooth module. We dont use featres like the gyro which we though would make robots go in a straight line even wi...

Re: 3D printing

Thicker is better, but I wouldn't expect any thickness to take a direct hit from a spinner so don't worry about it. Around 3 to 4 mm wall thickness will take a good hit from a spinner and still hold together. but only if hit along the wall and not an edge. i use ABS with 50% infill most of the time...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

i was worried about this fight as low, fast wedges with good acetate usually easily overpower mantis due to no acetate and it having a high centre of ballance... SA5 is actualy pretty slow due to being driven by a deltang which has a pretty low voltage limit and using 30:1 motors. its replacment wi...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

Roboshowdown was fantastic I find these more relaxed events much more fun than the very competative AWS events tbh. UnorthodoX enterd the 2v2 with flipant just beacuse pete was next to us on the pit bench table, they made quite the duo. flipant saving the match when unorthodox is easly pushed out. e...
