Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019
I didn't agree with the decision either. Personally I felt on the day that the fight should have gone to the judges as a double KO, with them making a decision based upon the fight up until that point, not factoring in the technicality. However 5i) does say that 2 bots leave the arena simultaneously...

Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019
Thanks for the shout out Dave, appreciate it. One thought I've just had (a little late, but could be handy for future) if we were to do a draw then playoffs for the final 8 spaces, would it really matter about putting limitations on initial sign ups? I.E. Still let people sign up 3 rollers + 1 walke...

Re: Team Phyte Antweight Builds & Event Reports
Even though AWS60 was on paper my poorest performance all year it was still a pretty memorable event. Instead of writing out big dull paragraphs I'll just make some bullet points & keep it somewhat briefer: 1) The Little Sytes definitely need internal upgrades. Currently they can only run on 1s ...

Re: Team Antiquarian & Anthony's Ant Army ready for battle
Was rather impressed by some of your bots, especially Recycler. Am looking forward to seeing that vertical flail as well.
P.S. I've already ordered a propeller for Epic Flail, this similarity thing is getting weird.

Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019
Many thanks to Sarah, Dave & everyone else for what was a great event.
Would also like to give shout outs to the teams who made the top 16 for what were some spectacular fights in the final rounds, as well as for managing to get your bots repaired time & time again.

Re: Team Phyte Antweight Builds & Event Reports
Thanks! Part of the reason I came up with the design in the first place was there were no motorized flail bots in any weight category at the time. A flail vs flail fight would definitely be interesting, but it'll be very unlikely we get drawn against each other. Assuming it doesn't get destroyed in ...

Re: Team Phyte Antweight Builds & Event Reports
Well, I only managed to finish 1 of the 2 in time for Saturday, but nevermind, introducing Epic Flail !!! https://i.gyazo.com/86edd884908dff316286579c531debdb.png Epic Flail has a very simple design philosophy: Big motor, big rubber band that will stretch out upon spin up, & 2 big metal teeth on...

Re: Ellis's (Team BANANAPHONE/A12) build log!
I'm hoping someone else can back me up on this, but someone told me recently that there's a 2% tolerance for the scales? So you may not have to save weight. At least that's what I'm hoping, otherwise I'll be hacking bits of MicroNewton on the day. Definitely double check with someone first though, ...

Re: Good speed for antweights?
2s lipos (which most people use) are 7.4v & the standard 30:1 N20 motors are 600rpm, so from what you're saying I'd imagine your bot would be slightly slower than average (but not by too much). If you're interested the Bristol Bot Builders are selling N20's for £8 a pair at the moment. https://s...

Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019
Looks like it'll be a busy day, I'm assuming the raffle will apply to teams with 2 rollers & no cluster/walker as well?
PS Am definitely looking forward to that glow in the dark rumble!!
