Re: SG90 Speed Hacking

Araldite or similar epoxy should do it, maybe with some coarse sandpaper or similar to rough up the gear faces for a better bond.

Re: Antweight robot first build

I'm not sure what use you'd have for a Zumo chassis? Generally you'll want a custom chassis for antweights but it's not usually that hard - a lot of mine have been basically a sheet of suitable plastic or metal/carbon fibre with holes for the wheels and motor mounts cut out with a knife.

Re: Total cost?

I'd like to make my own controllers one day but it's not really my department :( I am trying to have a diverse range of electronics without using any one controller in all my robots though. Diversity is important and should be encouraged in everything in life, and that goes for speed controllers too...

Re: Total cost?

From what I've seen, it's always more difficult than you think it is and you must sacrifice at least the first four or five revisions to Our Lord And Saviour George Francis in a cloud of ritual smoke until you have something that works! Good luck with it if you do though - my (non-technical) advice ...

Re: Newbie saying hello and looking for local(ish) events.

I had literally never been to Wales until I went to Rhys' last event, it wasn't too bad in the end :) Ant events tend to be quite concentrated in the southeast of the country quite naturally as most roboteers tend to be from there and therefore access is easy - I think more local events will happen ...

Re: Was this a tv series/episode?

Was it anything to do with technogames? I have a tape of that somewhere that features the original Scuttle with its legs falling off...

Re: Sort of Newbie...

You can still use it; there's no rule against using 27/40mhz gear (and indeed if you do you'll almost certainly have your pick of channels!) and it'd be quite good to see how something of that era holds up in combat. The batteries might not hold much of a charge any more though!

Stroud's good for me too! Hell, anywhere's good for me realistically, it'll be an overnight stop no matter where really...
