Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

Looking very nice, I like the contrast of the blue on white. Curve balls are always apparent on my printer, that's why I bought the wanhao printer as it was a work out the box, my I2 just took so long to set up. I wonder how a multi material layup would work, using the 2 nozzles, how would laminatin...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

I would agree on the E3D hotend, I have 4 of the things on my other printers and all great - well, 2 are official E3D and 2 are Chinese copies.
All still are great, but finish quality of the chinese is as you expect!

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

I have my new chassis printed and I have it built. I'm not happy with these CF side arms as they are a bit bulky and weighty. May see if I can reduce the overall length of the not to reduce weight in parts and see if I can have some holes in the arms to reduce weight more. Current weight is 165 and ...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

Peter, you really need to get a new hot end for your printer.
A nice all metal one will be great, as you know, the PTFE tube will melt and cause major issues. Mine 'melted' at 260 causing me to strip it and re ream the hole.
Btw is it an i3 you have?

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

Have been taking a look at the side armour and think I can reduce it down to 2mm CF, so that should half the weight well reduce it some what.
I have started to make the hinge and top chassis and it's looking nice, current weight is 160g.

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

Holes could work quite nicely for weight reduction, as could taking one of the motors out and spinning it with just one; Jim (Hi Jim!!!! :D) took both those approaches with Raoul (on right) and it worked very well. Part of my inspiration was Raoul, its a good looking machine, Luckily i have the abi...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

So... I have machined my 4mm carbon fibre into the side plates, and I'm getting the impression there is a bit of glass fibre inside the mix. The fibres were deffinatly White in the centre, luckily I didn't pay for it and it was off cuts from a massive octorotor I machined for a friend, but still... ...
