Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

All looks fantastic Pete! Looking forward to seeing that drum spinner. Has it got a name yet and will it feature at the AWS?

Re: Rule Debates

As far as the judges are concerned, I personally feel that this aspect has been handled really well recently. Especially at AWS 54, the judges/arena marshalls only had one robot each and were therefore able to watch all of the fights. It's actually been a very good experience from that perspective. ...

Re: Rule Debates

The only fights that go the 3 minutes need the 3 minutes and the other fights are not impacted by keeping the time frame the same because, as stated, most fights rarely go the 3 minutes. The 2 minute fight limit would have quite a few adverse effects. I would propose clear judging criteria (document...

Re: Rule Debates

The two minute fight concept would not be ideal in the current robot climate. An example is the following (I know I am focussing more on spinners but I believe there are of course going to be other cases, just these are really game changing): Currently we have spinners which, while deadly for ~1.5 -...

Re: Revision of Nanoweight Cube Size

Whilst it would be nice to continue on as we are, think you're right; the best way to save the smaller weight classes is to have dedicated competitions with access for all. That does in fact mean that an either/or rule would be the only way. I for one would be happy with that and would just have to ...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

The self righting will still be using the disc, I'll just be taking what I learned from getting DHMIS to actually spinup and applying it to Test! Though the new frame would hopefully stop that being needed much anyway. It's definitely the most reliable way. DHMIS is terrifying when it spins up. I'd...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

I'm just bored of it. Outright competitiveness isn't fun to me anymore, I'd much rather make unusual or outlandish robots and try and do well with them than enter a robot I know has a good chance of rolling its way to the final groups each time. I'm not really going into competitions with the aim o...

What happened to I Can't Believe It's Not Stanley at the last event Alex? Was surprised not to see it in the competition.

Re: AWS56 - Bristol

October 13th would be OK for us. Sounds perfect and loads of time for everyone to get arrangements sorted. :D
