Re: Team Oh, It Broke Build Logs

First major mistake, I ordered some brackets to bolt the various panels together. They arrived today. Where I was expecting reinforced L-brackets of about 3cm on each side, they're nearer 3 inches each side. One bracket weighs over 300 grams! Looks like I'll be building some shelves in the near futu...

Re: Team Oh, It Broke Build Logs

It was purely my own impatience, and they were 1-2mm drill bits so not especially strong to start with. Only drilling aluminium, presumably with a bit too much force.

Re: Team Oh, It Broke Build Logs

Shattered a few drill bits, but I've got side armour build now. Need to get the ramps built so I can fit it all together, but a little research into the type of armour I need has to be done first.

Team Oh, It Broke Build Logs

As mentioned in the "how big is your beetle" thread a few months ago, I'm dipping a toe in the beetle-infested waters soon. For now I'm going to try to build a simple invertible wedge out of a couple of RC cars and as much metal as I can get into the weight limit. I'm fully aware I'm not going to wi...

At least you have plenty of time to work on it at the moment. Great to see it progressing

Re: Oh, It Broke: Team Diary

Tiny update on the new Beatle... Waits (may change the name yet and let the 3 remaining from the original set that can still be repaired, keep fighting as well until they die): I've been doing more thorough driving tests with them, and it turns out that by accident I've made robots that can right th...

If that (huge vert) gets into a competition, I think it will pick up "best engineered" very, very easily!

:)
It'll pick up most of its opponents too!

Re: Oh, It Broke: Team Diary

Today I bought more of the little cars that made the Beatle... Waits so much fun. As standard, they're 42 grams. Armed and modified, they're down to 40 grams a time. If I can shave 3g off each of them, I've got a cluster flea, and FOUR that can be in the arena at any one time. May have to buy extra ...
