Re: BotFest 5

Absolutely, no worries! Many thanks for your help during the day. :D Simiarly, thanks to everyone who turned up last weekend. We had a good turn out a 44 robots and possibly one of the most even fields BotFest has ever had with 4 playoffs for the quarters. Video footage will be worked on this week a...

BotFest 5

Hey everyone, we are well overdue for the next event, so here we go! Before this event is ran, I should hopefully iron out the issues we had with the video at BotFest 4 (I have the footage still but a lot of it is not usable with the audio in place). Location St. Lukes Church Poulton Wallasey CH44 3...

Re: Antweight arena designs

Surprised the BotFest arena doesn't get a mention here. :P 4mm is the minimum thickness as alluded to and yes, something like 20 or 30mm wide/6mm thick polycarb for sacrificial walls would help. The BotFest arena collapses, that is all held together with 8x M5 bolts and the floor sits in between the...

Re: Starting Positions

The BotFest arena is a square so aside from having one side partially open to the pit, there isn't any axis advantage to be had. As an EO, I don't mind in what orientation the robot is in relation to the opponent. As for where they start in the arena, it is common practice for the opponents to be op...

Re: BotFest 4 (25th April 2020)

With a little under 24 hours to go until the event (finally!), there are a few things I wanted to bring up before the event itself. - Table space will be limited so please make room where you are able to. - Share out any extension cords/battery bags to other roboteers as needed. - You are welcome to...

Re: BotFest 4 (25th April 2020)

Following the announcement of intention from the UK government this evening, I am going to note the following: - I am not going to impose a limit on people coming to this event however, for BotFest 4, I am not going to encourage spectators to come (in short, roboteers only). By the time of BotFest 5...

Re: BotFest 4 (25th April 2020)

I am waiting for the announcment this evening to see what the intentions are. Once announced, I'll make a follow up announcement on the event, which will include what restrictions will be in place.
