Power connectors identification / naming

Post by MarkR »

Hi,

Perhaps someone knows the names of these power connectors? Perhaps this message will be useful if we add some info here:

1. The discharge plug on many small 2S and 3S lipo batteries. This is a polarised, usually red, female (on the battery end) connector with a pitch of about 2.5mm (it fits 0.1" pin headers without too much difficulty). These are sometimes called just "JST" but JST is a company which makes a massive range of connectors.

2. The charging plug used on small 2S and 3S packs - I think these are probably called JST-XH connectors, and come with variable numbers of pins (2S = 3 pins, 3S = 4 pins, etc). The middle leads are the "cell balancing" leads, they are connected between the series cells so that the charger can charge the cells individually. These connectors are usually white.

3. The plug on small 1S - single lipo cells. These obviously don't need a separate charge / discharge lead, and typically use a very tiny (usually white) polarised female connector. They're often used on very small drones (e.g. toy ones).

1) JST RCY connector; sometimes called a "bec" connector.
2) yep, those are JST-XH connectors.
3) 1s lipos come with a variety of different connectors, but the most common seem to be the Molex Picoblade (that's what the small nano-tech ones have).

3) These are probably a "JST DS LOSI 2.0MM 2 Pin Connector". The plugs have flat pins, exposed on one side.
