Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
My team for the AWS, though Sir Digby needs a new chassis already after a small incident in testing!
Test Robot Please Ignore
A new redone design making it shorter and wider with some forks for balancing hits. It drives much better and gyros less. The disc is freshly sharpened and delivering some monstrous hits!
134g
The Surprising Adventures Of Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar And His Sidekick Ginger
A mix of Hexachopper and ROFLSTOMP it uses 2 motor 4WD with gears to transfer the power. This works far better than hexachoppers drive did, the gears adding little extra load and it can spin them driving against a wall. The disc also works a lot better as a vertical. Just a few tweaks to make before it is 100% ready to fight. It weighs in at 136g and will be getting a nano called 'Ginger' to complete it. The eventual plan is to turn sir digby into a walker.
And the full team of antweights (nanos to come):
From left to right, 'The Surprising Adventures Of Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar And His Sidekick Ginger', Test Robot Please ignore, You Should Probably Just Leave, I Can't Believe It's Not Stanley.
Also I picked up a new heavy chassis:
It's a bit small (actually a compact middleweight) but it will be bought up to weight and given a weapon. I also have 2mm hardox on the way aswell.

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
As I mentioned in the Bristol Robot Wars 3 thread we were invited along to that and for part of it we threw together a flea cluster.
So I now have this guy:
Weighing in at 58g it's a very simple 2WD pusher with 2 80mah roundcells powering it (which lasted a surprisingly long time). 2 hacked HPXF servo boards for escs aswell. I just need to put it in a proper chassis (this is literally the back chopped off an old Sir Digby chassis). I might give it a little grabber aswell or try and lighten it so it can be joined by a nano.
Over christmas I also built my grandad a robot, a horizontal grabber powered by a PP3 9v battery (in order to avoid needing specialised chargers, it is somehow still in weight even with this battery). It was actually a really fun robot to drive around so I intend on making a horizontal grabber to compete in my team, hopefully I can bring the weapon system back somewhat.
Also the parts finally arrived for my nanoweight team so expect some work on those shortly. I have a Grabber, drum and FBS planned.
3D printer stuff
I have found the key to using a 3d printer with ABS... ACETONE! LOTS AND LOTS OF IT!
Plus I've been trying out some more detailed printing on my printer:
Attempt 1, 3" long PLA:
Attempt 2, 5" long ABS, printed in 3 parts split across (was testing to see if joins can be well hidden, not as good as I hoped):
Attempt 3, 8" long, 2 parts (ring seperate) ABS:
Almost forgot:

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
This might be a long shot but has anyone got any 80~90mah turnigy round cell batterys I could buy/trade for before Ant Freeze. I need a load for nanoweighting but Hobbyking is out of stock in the UK.

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Please enter that into Ant Freeze!
Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
For record keeping a full report:
May I present my most brutal, deadly and competetive spinner to date... Oh wait not that one, I need to build that one. Have 'Fine Tuning' instead:
Part serious and part bodge this was meant to be at the bristol event but a print failure and the fact it is 170g stopped it. I have a smaller tin to reduce weight sometime but that'll happen whenever I decide to cook a tuna pasta bake again. I'll bring it to ant freeze for people to poke and maybe demo though!
I mentioned earlier in the thread about this guy:
Something for fleaweight clustering, but being 56g I saw a challenge to be had. I thought it would be fun to make it into a nano/flea fleaweight cluster. Got it down to 52g which was this guy:
Though being only 2g off of a nice 1/3rd of an ant there was only one solution....
WEDGE WEDGE WEDGE!
Each component is 49g and is individually a legal flea. Together they form an ant cluster of 'Wedge Wedge Wedge!'. They're too fast and twitchy to drive but very fun and the hecticness of 3 of them should be confusing enough to fluke a few wins!
Also I may be building a few nanos soon, the batteries are here...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Not much progress on my main team due to a load of commissions to be done!
However I am after a servo horn to fit one of these, I seem to have misplaced mine and am trying to build a new flipper robot!

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
I can send you one or 2 horns from the HXT900 that hobbyking do along with the spinner stuff (once I have your address!). I don't know how to tell if they fit but they look like they come with identical horns to me so its worth a shot I guess
Team Badger
Has a 3d printer now yay
-£4.82+VAT (intact)
-cool modulated printed thingy
-not yet built nasty mean spinnt thingy
I'm gonna build something huge and stupid, try and stop me

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
i bought some a while ago for use in smart ant 5 as they are amazing and how it has such a powerful flip.
so i have a bunch of servos and there horns for that exact model
which of the horns do you want?
pm address and stuff

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Thankyou very much, I've sent you a PM Lincoln!
Thanks for the offer Occashokka but it seems to be a slightly non standard size of servo horn, I'll drop you a PM for the spinner stuff though.
