Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
I have been having a play with a modified walking mechanism.
As Rory said in the nano section three legs per side gives a much better walk but it is more difficult to get the three feet that dont clash.
What I have done is have the first two feet as normal one outside and one inside and then put a 3mm offset in the third leg so the third foot is outside the second.
Here is a mockup in action.

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
That looks very promising. One advantage of the 3 leg system is that it can be stably run at much higher speeds than 2 legs, giving the robot similar speed and maneuverability to that of a wheeled robot... So, cue massive spinner walker thing from Pete? A heavy undercutter would be a truly terrifying beast

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
Adding the third foot on the outside was making it too wide so I have flipped it to the inside.
Here I have moulded some silicone rubber feet onto the legs.
And here the legs are mounted on a 3D printed frame to check the walking.

Wow, that's impressive. I hope you plan to do an ant sized one too? Or a cluster of with 2 walking fleas...

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
I just need to get a Fleaweight for the AWS first.
Had to redesighn the legs so they were shorter and held the silicone rubber feet better.
Now looking at the chassis I am trying black PLA instead of the red ABS.
Here is the walking set to run as slow as I could to give a better idea of the sequence.

Also a shot of the underside which gives an idea of how it fits the 3 inch cube and the eventual weapon configuration.

Re: Peter Wallers Fleas
It worries me that you're using the same brushless motor that is in Bad Idea.. Those things have some serious power! Though be warned, the mounts on that motor are very fragile. That's why Bad Idea has bearings either side of the motor to take the force of the hits; I tried it at quarter power without the extra motor mounts, and it snapped two of the mounting legs.
